You have a modular, you want to make videos about it, but how do you portray it properly? In this workshop, Peter Leyssens shares his experience and tips to make your modular synth shine convincingly on video.
You will learn how to set the right lighting, which camera angle works best, how to make your setup visually attractive and how to record the sound clearly. From technical basics to creative choices: everything you need to share your bleeps in a visually appealing way. Ideal for those who want to create their own content for YouTube, Instagram or other socials – with a minimum of material, and a maximum of impact.

‘What can you do with a CD4046 IC?’ by Thomas Betsens

Thomas Betsens explains what possibilities are for the use of the CD4046 IC.

Exploring DIY Video Synthesis with Lieven Stockx

Last year (2024), Lieven made a DIY version of a cha/v to display lines on an old computer screen during his performance on Belgian Modular Day II. After that he kept exploring this idea of making a video synthesizer.
This talk offers insights into low-tech approaches to video synthesis, showing how minimal resources can produce interesting results. From using analog waveforms to draw shapes or repurposing VGA signals as an audio or sync source. Or maybe create some feedback with video converters. All in the name of experimentation.
18:00 | second floor
‘DIY Eurorack – From Idea to Module’ by Peter Jamée

Ever wanted to build your own Eurorack synth module but didn’t know where to start? This talk is a step-by-step walkthrough of how to bring a DIY module to life – from that first “What if?” idea to a fully working piece of gear in your rack. We’ll cover the basics of sketching out a concept, designing a circuit and PCB, making your own front panel, picking and finding parts without losing your mind (or budget), and finally putting it all together. Whether you’re into bleeps, bloops, or just love making stuff, this is a practical guide to jumping into the world of DIY modular synth building.

Build a Crackle Box with Thomas Betsens
Who?
Thomas Betsens, circuit bender and mixed media artist who loves making noises and crackles in the duo Engerling ensemble.
Feel free to check out his web site for more info: thomasbetsens.com.
What?
A workshop where we explore the sonic possibilities of the CD4046 ic. We a build a cracklebox kit based on mroztronium.blogspot.com/p/pipsqueak.html | modwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=167041.
After building you have the opportunity to delve into the possibilities of this instrument.
The existing schematic was modified here and there to give the crackle box some extra features. Are you interested? Signing up in advance is a must! On the day itself you can also join but then there is the chance that there are no more kits in stock.
What do I need?
On the day itself you can build your kit there are soldering irons on site and everything is provided to build your kit . There is also a manual to guide you step by step through the building process. But of course you can also bring your own soldering iron.
When?
At 14:00 we start building the cracklebox together, joining later is no problem.
The end of the session foreseen at 17:00.
